There is no pass mark

The TestAS has no minimum score and no “passed” or “failed”. Your university decides whether your result is enough (FAQ test day). That is why the Universities page matters so much: it shows which requirement each university names.

Comparing paper and digital

The paper-based test gives standard values, the digital test gives the score. The percentile ranks are directly comparable. g.a.s.t. provides a conversion table for the standard values and the score (FAQ test day). In the universities’ rules you will see both. In our sources, the standard values go up to 130 and the score up to 200.

Certificate

  • The certificate has no expiry date.
  • You can retrieve several certificates and choose one.
  • You can retake the test as often as you like. Results from different dates cannot be added together.

How long does the evaluation take?

For the digital test about 3 weeks, for the paper-based test about 4 weeks (testas.de: dates and registration). Plan for this when you work out your application deadline.

What does my score do for me at my university?

That depends on the university. Some universities state a formula in their statutes, for example Freiburg, Hamburg, Mainz, Würzburg and the MHH.

  • How g.a.s.t. forms the comparison group for the percentile rank, and whether there is a conversion from the raw value to the score, we did not find in the sources we checked. This is open.
