Important: We do not give a list of dates or a general fee here. Both change and differ by test center. Use the official list of dates.
The official list of dates
You can find current dates and test centers at g.a.s.t.: testas.de: dates and registration. On our page The Test you can see the next dates as a guide. Dates, registration deadlines and test centers are binding only at g.a.s.t.

What does the test cost?
The fee depends on the test center and the country. The sources we found contradict each other. So we do not state a general fee. More on this: Costs.
As an example for a single test center: on 25 October 2026, the Sprachenakademie Aachen quoted €160 for the digital TestAS (date 26 November 2026). That applies only to this test center and this date: Sprachenakademie Aachen.
How registration works
You will find the registration steps at g.a.s.t. and at your test center. The information from g.a.s.t. and your test center is binding.
Country specifics (APS)
For some countries, the TestAS plays a role in the APS procedure (testas.de: the TestAS in China, Vietnam and India):
- China: TestAS only in the APS China procedure, to check the plausibility of grades. If there is a large deviation, there is an interview.
- Vietnam: For applicants without a university degree, the TestAS is mandatory in the APS procedure.
- India: Relevant if the university requires it.
Individual universities
The University of Cologne organises its own TestAS dates (University of Cologne: TestAS). Which university has which application deadline is in the university table.
